Hey Ernie,

She's breathtaking... So much so, that I asked Joel to make me a twin of yours, exactly the same with the addition of a cutaway bevel for my 2011 build.

Aloha,

Hen

Wow, this thing is museum quality. If you get a chance I'd love to hear some sound clips. But don't rush...I know I didn't want to be bothered on my honeymoon

Thumbs up

Got Joe's email this morning, with the pictures attached - what can I say, one of the most beautiful guitars that Joel's ever built - congratulations!

Thanks so much guys. I should receive it soon and post a sound clip. Never ever played Braz or sinker or both so it will be a treat.our

Hen, I thought your last one (Hula Mama?) IS a twin, not to mention Keith's Burner # 10 that could be another sibling.

That is just flat out stunning. Hands down one of the most beautiful guitars I've seen of Joel's. Congrats! I hope you enjoy it for years to come.

Kindly,
Danny

Bet Joel got his top from Zootman which would make it likely from the same tree as mine!

Wow, that's pretty.
Particularly impressive is that mitered purfling around the butt wedge--not easy, and yet perfectly done.
Again, wow....

Or as the Don would say, dang....

Hey Ernie,

Ours is close, but mine is African Blackwood, and Ive been thinking about another Braz Rosewood, Sinker Redwood pairing ever since I sold my Stehr GA "Orca". Joel said he has a few more sister sets of back sides, so I asked him to use that for my 2011 build. That one will be more of a twin than my Hula Girl

Aloha,

Hen

Hi Keith,

I think that top might be one of Joel's. Over a year ago he bought a bunch of sinker redwood billets and had them cut into tops. I know he had a lot, because I went in with him on several billets, and there were about 14 tops we cut from mine. Joel picked up 4 to 5 times as many billets as I did so he's sitting on a pretty big stash of sinker. He even has some curly sinker, similar to the one I used on my Edwinson Consort build.

So if anyone is looking for some sinker redwood, Joel might have what you're looking for...and as evidenced by this braz sinker build (as well as the other Stehr builds in this section of the Forum) he builds some very beautiful (and beautiful sounding) guitars.

Aloha,

Hen

Thanks Steve.

I heard about your fantastic guitars years ago from Danny Brevard. Great compliment coming from you.

Now let me embarrass myself and ask where exactly is the butt wedge? The area around the guitar strap thingy?
