Too bad you're passing on it. I had one as well and also regret selling it. Don't let the laminate fool you, it's a great guitar.

I bought a Alvarez 5022 back in 1978 and eventually passed on to my son who is learning to play. I can tell you that the top has changed colors to a dark hue and the sound just keeps getting better. I miss that guitar, but now have one to play when I go to visit him. I did replace it with a Yairi DY 91, which I really love. I think Alvarez did a great job building these guitars back in the 70's and early 80's, but never got the respect that they deserved, Jeff

It is a nice guitar, thought of maybe asking my dad about buying it from him. It was his first guitar he got. I played on it a little bit while i was up there. Seems like it has alot of mid-range,but hard to tell much with strings that are several years old. Very comfortable to play thought, light weight, compact (compared to my takamine dred).

If it looks like this on the back, it's a5043. Grab it and don't let go, the best sounding guitar I've ever owned.

After revisiting the photo, I see the body is a different shape, so probably NOT 5043.

Bridge Screws for '78 Alvarez 5025
My old Alvarez 5025 is missing one of the two bridge screws. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement screw?
