Default "Easy" songs by Tommy Emmanuel?

I was lucky enough to see TE play in Stockholm, Sweden, two weeks ago. He put on quite a show, almost two hours all by himself.

Most of the songs he plays are way too complex for me, but what would you say is a relatively easy song of his? Googling comes back with Lewis and Clark, but Song for a Rainy Morning, which he played, seems quite a bit simpler. Other suggestions?

One think to keep in mind with Tommy Emmanuel is that even his slower songs can be deceptively hard to play because of the chord shapes. I thought I would try to learn how to play Those Who Wait, but you need to have giant hands to play that song. There are several chords in the opening bars that I can’t even play on a GS Mini. Of course there are workarounds, but they don’t sound the same. Good luck!

There's few on his Only album I used to play - Mombasa, Stay With Me, Those Who Wait. I did get through a part of Luttrell, but I never finished it. That one wasn't easy.

“Since We Met” is a good one to step into.

The book Tommy Emmanuel: Solo Guitar Style is great if you can find an affordable copy these days, and the accompanying cd contains some excellent tuition from the man himself.

Dixie McGuire, Amy and Countrywide are all fairly approachable, while a full transcription of Day Tripper/Lady Madonna is exactly the handful you would imagine it to be...

There are also TE arrangements of Blue Moon and Windy & Warm, A Taste of Honey and Trambone which are all fun to play - not to mention the text which is packed with insights, advice and stories.

It's spiral-bound too, which would benefit many guitar books in my experience.

Yes, I would have thought that T.E.'s forte is less in writing songs and more in his amazing chops when he covers standards. And these standards can be played quite successfully without the pyrotechnics he brings to them.

I read somewhere he instructs his students to learn Freight Train.

Check out Tim Van Roy. He does tutorials of mostly Tommy Emmanuel songs. He's excellent. This is his Patreon page:

Haha! There ARE no easy Tommy songs…but you should always try and make it sound like one. Windy and Warm, Mombasa and Lewis&Clark indeed. I started with OldTown ( still struggling)
Go for it and always keep trying and believing!

He he, there's a reason I wrote "easy". Thanks for the Footprints tip. I still think Song for a Rainy Morning is easier, but it is rather recent.
