Default New Gibson SGJ on order

So I took the plunge. I ordered the 2014 Gibson SGJ today. $499, that includes taxes and shipping. Should be here next week.

I'll post pics when it comes in. I figured it was time to add an SG to the stable. It has those new '61 pickups. I've never tried them before so hopefully I like them.

Anyone play these before?

I have to admit that I've eyed those SGJs more than once. Really appealing at the price point. Was this bought on sale? I believe (here in Canada at least) that Best Buy had a $100 sale on them, if you can stomach buying a guitar from Best Buy.

That's where I got it from, well, Future Shop, which is owned by Best Buy. No hassle return policy and I can take it to the store here in town if it looks like it's been abused. There are only a few left. The 2013 SGJ is $50 cheaper and has the same special. They even pay the tax.

Hey Dru - glad to hear you pulled the trigger. I know you've been talking about those for a while. Sounds like a good deal.

Don't forget the pics....

Thanks Growler. I'll post a thread when I get it. It shipped from Toronto yesterday so I should have it Tue-Wed (guessing).

You are going to enjoy that guitar. Those things play so, so well.

I just hope I get something that wasn't a return. I've never bought a guitar from future shop before.

It's at the post office. It was delivered to my house today but since I was working I wasn't here to receive it. Tomorrow I'll pick it up. Poorly taken pics to follow

Congrats! I've played a Standard and really liked it. My only complaint is they feel slightly neck heavy compared to a Les Paul, but the lighter weight is nice and the tone is wonderful. Pics! Pics!

You're gonna like it. I played one at rehearsal last night and our band leader was raving about my tone. I'm playing it at a wedding Saturday.

Egads, I just looked it up and here in Canada they're selling them for $489 Canadian with a sale covering the tax (13% and completely unavoidable here), and free shipping. So $489 for an American SG shipping/all-in (that's around $440 USD). Wow.

Yep, that's why I got it. $499 everything in and a no hassle return policy. I'll be able to try it out tonight.
