OK, so the recommendations/ideas as of right now include:

1) Songs about winter (was thinking of doing this one in December, to include Christmas as well)
2) Songs from lesser known artists
3) Songs about love
4) Gender Bender (songs from someone of the opposite sex)
5) Songs about Crazy or with Crazy on the title
6) Songs originally performed with no guitar
7) Songs from people that have passed away suddenly
8) 19th century songs
9) Songs from big names that may or may not be associated with rock (Big Cosby, Sinatra, etc.)
10) Songs from other countries
11) Songs you can't stand
12) Songs in other than English
13) Songs with no writer (old folk songs)

We could also add songs from the 50s, 60s, 70s, or 80s as a possibility. These were in earlier polls.

If I missed anyone let me know...

OK, so we will need to narrow this down quite a bit. We can post a poll tomorrow for maybe three or four to choose from. Of the above, my favorites are:
1) Gender Bender
2) Songs about Love
3) Songs from lesser known artists
4) Songs from the 70s

I think these are broad enough to allow plenty of people to find a song to work on. Some of the above, like the 19th century and songs not in English, might be very difficult for a lot of us.

Todd

Your short list looks great Todd. Look forward to the poll and to November's show case.

i guess you had to include "songs you can't stand" but still it made me laugh.

anyway, how about 70s gender bender songs about love from lesser known artists? sounds like a hoot.

Not to be picky, but my suggestion was for "songs you fell in love to" - not just "songs about love". I thought it might bring out some nice stories from the members, and maybe even some original songs (that were written for the significant other)

How about songs from the 1920's - 1930's. These could be popular songs, like a Cole Porter song, or from a movie, or about the Depression, or maybe from a musical.

Todd, I think we have the next year covered

BTW: Thanks for organizing this and running with it every month. It's a great contribution to the AGF and it's appreciated.

Any of those on the current short list would work fine for me. Plus the recently added songs of 20s & 30s. It's all good.

Was on the road until late last night. Adding a poll now for the short list. Not much time to vote, but we'll do what we can...
