Default NOGD Gibson L30 arrived

All my Archtop arrived today and I can't wait to get some time to clean her up and do some work on her. She is a Gibson L-30. Unfortunately no markings left inside the body but I think from the color and specs that she is from between 1937 and 43. I tried to get some pics of her but she is so dirty that It seems I just couldn't get any thing really nice. I mean she literally had a 1/2 inch of dust inside the body. I hope to clean her up this weekend.

**** Update after some more cleaning and dirt removal I found the FON 744H with a 18 in red pencil.
If I read correctly that makes her a 1942 not a 30's

I haven't really truly played her yet. I need to do a good clean up and some repairs but I did some light strumming but I didn't tune her the strings are so old they have turned green and I want to make sure all is good before I replace them and put stress on the neck.

Even out of tune and with the old strings for such a small guitar she has a pretty big voice, nice and woodsy.

Congrats! Looks like it's a player. Is it normal not to have any markings indicating the year?

this is the 1st older Gibson I have had but from what I have been able to find out through reading is that serial numbers more or less did not exist. They did start using Factory Order Numbers (FONs) and they help at least get some idea of the date. It appears there were different ways of marking them and some times they either didn't get marked or they just seem to disappear.

There is some good info on the serial numbers and dating these guitars in several places but a good one for general info is
