40s Kay (Galiano?) squareneck
I came across one of these today(I think). It had no sticker inside the guitar, and I don't remember it having "Galiano" on the headstock. They identified it as a 40s Kay, though. And I found a set of photos on the net of a Kay-built "Galiano" that looks identical.
Apparently solid Mahogany back and Spruce top, square neck, 14th fret neck join, fairly wide nut and I'm guessing it has a 26" scale. It was tuned down to open C, 151351. Nice low growl. I was not looking for lap steels, but was rather looking for a small powered monitor to plug my POD into, so I did not have my own steel or fingerpicks. Anyone ever play one? Anyone ever hear of one? I know that Kay use to make all of the old Oahu squarenecks. TW Oh, and this is what I found online... https://antebelluminstruments.blogsp...an-guitar.html Last edited by Mycroft; 06-16-2017 at 07:21 PM. Reason: added link |
