Default Can you tell me if this is a Martin D-28?

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...ed=0CDsQ9QEwAQ

And this is the BACK of the album:

I know this is not a very good shot of the album cover but it is all I have....can you tell me if this is a C.F. Martin D-28? The album was made in 1977.

Do you know what one would go for from that year today?

Or do the modern Martins sound no different??

OR is the guitar pictured an HD-28?

The 28 has binding on the neck, I don't see it in the pic. My guess is it is a D-18.

Not so. The D-28 comes with no binding.

The 28 does not have a bound neck, the 35 does. The photo is a D-28. Used one from that year might run between $2000 and $2400. Virtually same specs as modern D-28.

The D-28 does not have binding on the neck. Looks like a D-28 to me. ...Mike

Post 3, 4, 5, and 6, you are all absolutely 100 % correct. I just had a brain fa_t or maybe misplaced a few brain cells.

Thanks for correcting me.

Never mind... my bad. D-28 on the back, too. I though it was a D-18 at first.

Agree D-28.

D-35 has white neck binding, D-21 has dark body binding.

Looking at the second pick I do not see a diamond dart at the head stock so this could be a D-18.

A volute you mean? Interesting point.

No volute. Could be a D21.

D-28's did not have a volute in the 1970's. Not sure what year they dropped it, bt I recently sold a mid 70's D-28, no volute. Plus, as already pointed out, D-18's do not have white binding (nor does a D-21). The guitar is a D-28.
