Default Quick primer on dobros?

A friend of mine is giving me his Dobro next week - short story is he bought it, played it maybe twice, and let it collect dust. He didn't have the free time or strong desire to learn slide. IIRC, it's a wooden body square neck and he almost never buys cheap. Can you guys point me to some books, general info, lessons etc for these things? My tastes run more to blues than bluegrass, for which I gather a round neck is preferred, but I've seen some good blues work done on a square neck and free is hard to beat.

Oh, and I already play regular guitar using fingerpicks most of the time so I've at least got that going for me. Thanks!

Brad's Page of Steel is a great resource for info on Dobro, slide and steel guitars. And listen to Mike Auldridge, God rest his soul.

Lessons with Troy

A very good source for reasonably priced lessons and songs.

Not affiliated, just a very satisfied customer.
