two great books I've been reading
1) GUITAR: music/history/players by Richard Chapman (foreward by E Clapton)
A very nice book that covers classical,Flamenco,Blues,country,Folk,Rock/Pop in the UK and USA, Jazz,Latin and world music. Lots of color photos with all sorts of historical notes. A lot of guitar pictures as well from all areas. Heavy, slick, paper stock. Got mine from Amazon for around $20. 2)The Healthy Guitarist(How to save energy, avoid injury, and get more out of your playing), by Virginia Azagra Rueda. Has chapters on: a) basic anatomy and biomechanics for guitarists(active and passive parts) and the phsiology of movement b)the mechanical demands of playing a guitar(posture analysis/balance/sitting with a guitar/hand position/movement) c)guitar related injuries(risk factors/main disorders-causes symptoms, making the most of your study time, keys to prevention, specific exercises for guitarists, planning practice sessions) This book contains a wealth of knowledge. Combines reading/research with line drawings, photos. Very very excellent book. Around $39 on Amazon. go here for a preview: www.acordesconcert.com after connecting, click on English(unless you know spanish) then click on Didactic series on the right lower corner, find the title and click to open, then click on pfd file to open.
