Doing the math on some tax return GAS!
I can get a carbon fiber to leave out in this horrid lack of humidity, or for 1/6th the price I could get a Alvarez/Ibanez solid top/lam back. If the top ever cracked, just get another. Just thinking out loud. 20 years ago, I would never guessed I would crave buying a guitar soo much!

Hi Shadow,
You know we will tell you to buy both. Peace, Jimmy

What's a tax return? Being a 50-something well paid worker with no house or car payments to itemize, I always end up writing a $1000 - $2000 check to the treasury every year. This after maximizing my 401k and 457 contributions. And yes I know if I spent 1000's on vacation/rental property or other type of shelter I could save 100's on my taxes. Not the return I'm looking for. At least I'm not giving the gov't an interest-free loan all year....

If you are getting a tax refund large enough to buy a decent guitar with, then you are over-witholding and making an interest-free loan to the Treasury. Thank you for your contribution to our Democracy.

Shadow, if you’ve got some “extra” guitar cash coming in for whatever reason, buy whatever makes you happy and inspires you to enjoy the guitar journey.

I would go with the Carbon Fiber if given this choice, as I have heard some good things about them (but I haven't played any myself, so my opinion essentially means nothing). Playing a cheaper laminate b/s Ibanez is ok to at least be playing something, but I'd go for the highest quality guitar I could afford to serve the intended purpose, which sounds like the carbon fiber in this instance.

There's some darn good buys out there. Maybe you can inquire to one of our AGF carbon fiber dealers for a GAS relief valve, tax season, discount? |

You must have had a pretty good tax return. After my tax return I'm gassing for a thumb pick, but I don't want to blow it all on just that!

So, I have a nice state tax return coming. Enough to have a decent new guitar day. However, the feds are taking all but $4 of it.
O well.

I'd highly recommend a carbon fiber guitar. The composite acoustic gx was my favorite. The mcpherson sable was a second place option. Emerald seems to be very well talked about
