I wonder how much time Chet Atkins, Tommy Emanuel, Merle Travis, Doc Watson, et al spent worrying about guitar stands, bridge pins, saddles, etc and if that time might be inversely proportional to their playing ability?

What he said x 1000.

All of my guitars are in hanging stands
and have been for many years,
no damage or unusual wear etc.
Of course, no kids, no pets, and I never
vacuum anywhere near my axes,
Yeah, I vacuum, so what?

Because the headstock and neck are often one piece of wood, or, where the headstock is glued to the neck, the glued joint is stronger than the wood, so, it would not likely ever loosen or pull off.

So why do people generally feel ok with hanging a guitar by the neck on a stand but freak out when a guitar strap is attached there? I actually had a guy warn me that I was going to break my guitar because that's where I prefer to attach the strap. I tried to explain the low forces of a light guitar but he would have none of it. Pretty weird, I thought.

For me, I have no convenient place to stack/stand cases and pulling cases out, opening lids, case bites, etc is much more dangerous.
