Default Martin OM 42 Koa with K&K mini

Here is an absolutely stunning Martin OM 42 with Koa back and sides. Serial numbers place it in 2007 production.
The OM 42 line features exquisite Abalone mother of pearl inlays around the top, soundhole and along the fretboard where it joins the body. The black ebony bridge features MOP snowflakes and the headstock displays the CFMartin logo in MoP. Extremely straight grained Sitka top nicely aged to a medium patina with scalloped bracing. Ebony fretboard with full snowflake and cats eye inlays-truly the classiest treatment Martin does. Very nice beveled old school tortoise pickguard.

Gold tuners, strap pin (in the correct position in the heel) and input jack for the fabulous K&K Mini pick-up.

As if all that was not enough...the back and sides of this guitar-which was a very limited production model-are absolutely gorgeous Hawaiian Flamed Koa. The pictures show the amazing grain pattern of the back but it Is impossible for me to capture the three dimensional depth of the grain. It is almost an optical illusion--I know it's a thin piece of wood but the grain makes it look like it is an inch deep.

Koa gives a sparkly sound to my ears. Lighter than mahogany with out the overtones of rosewood.

Condition: I would rate this mint to excellent. No dings, scratches, gouges, dents. The finish is solid-no checking-and shows typical finish swirls for a 10 year old guitar. The guitar has been babied over its lifetime and is set up nicely for finger style and strumming with light strings.

A black original Martin hard case is included. Case is in excellent shape and has 6 gold tone latches, all in working order, and a plush purple crushed velvet interior befitting the status and prestige the guitar represents.

This is a very nice guitar and I am selling because I have accumulated too many instruments over the past couple of years. Painful to put it up for sale but if you have been looking for an OM 42 or a Koa Martin you should seriously consider this fine example.

Will ship fully protected and cushioned as you would expect. Continental US only please. No trades please.

$4,000 plus $50 shipping.

( I'll try to direct post pictures soon. The learning curve for Photobucket is a little steeper than I have time for right now.)

As an owner of an OM-42 Koa I strongly recomend this guitar. Strumming? Yes! Finger Style? Yes!

It has qualities of rosewood and mahogany. It has overtones but clarity. And of course it's super pretty.

Being Koa you will not see them often and unlike rosewood they are not being made today so it would a special custom shop order.

Good luck with the sale.

Agreed. IMO the OM-42 is the flagship of Martin Guitars, & the koa B&S is just icing on the cake! This is a lifetime keeper. If I had the cash, she'd be mine! GLWS, but eventually, you'll be sorry!

Wise move, the Koa improves over time more noticeably than EIR. Even though I now prefer small bodied short scale guitars I would be hard pressed to part with my OM-42K

Enjoy it

Update on my end.... moved a very nice Seagull Artist Studio that didn't move me for an Eastman E20 OM in mint condish. It will arrive Friday. Also, selling my D28 and getting a Martin CS OM-15M from Ted at LA Guitars. That will give me a Dread, a mahogany OM, an Adi/rose OM, and the CEO-7 once it is back from being fixed. Should give me a good range of sizes and sounds?
