Jodie Whitaker, the new Doctor, was in a series with David Tennant called Broadchurch that ran for three seasons ending last year. It was quite good, imo.

Exactly my response to Capaldi. At first a disappointment replacing Matt Smith, at the time my favorite doctor and a relief for me from intense David Tennant; but by the time Capaldi started riffing the Yamaha I was entirely converted. I'm in mourning that he's gone: new doctor has a tall order before her.

Tom Baker, then
David Tennant, then Matt Smith, then Romana (both), Best non-Time Lord companion? Sarah Jane Smith, then Amy Pond, then The Brig (not a true companion, I know). Best wife? River Song, then The Tardis. Best villain? The Master (all, including Missy), then Davros, then The Silence. |

Weird coincidence... tonight I caught an old episode of The Vicar of Dibley which first aired by in '94. The guest star was a quite young looking Peter Capaldi (doesn't come close to the top of my Doctors list, btw).

I’ve never seen an episode but for a minute there I thought Capaldi meant Jim Capaldi, the drummer/singer.

Do you mean Jon Pertwee or Peter Davison?

Yes. thank you! I meant Peter Davison. Even as I typed it, something seemed wrong, but I attributed that to a senior moment.

Peter was pretty good, but he had the most awful sets of companions.
I own at least some of the stories of every Doctor but 6 and 7. Even the US based movie, that was until recently, the only work of Doctor 8 (Paul McGann). He's not bad: |

The first modern ones I saw were with Eccleston, so he imprinted on me as The Doctor. Tenent : too frenetic . Smith : too Dorky . Capaldi : too old for Clara . But they're all great.
