He has a lot fans, his sc model had a high list price too. It seemed to do well. His acoustic ability has been a modern sensation, a good thing for guitar lovers.
He may just own a birth year (77)d45, maybe the inspiration for this signature model? Martin is betting there is a market for this, I'd bet they're right. |

Thats honestly what any guitar is really worth - about 1/2 of List , and that D-45 is basically just a lot of Bling -seriously !

I also doubt they will sell from dealers for much less than $11,500, based on the small production (45) and the historic popularity from overseas buyers with deep pockets. YMMV Rick

This is one of the nicest Martins that I have ever seen. Smitten, I love a full thickness neck with a tighter nut width.
Is it worth 10K more than a Martin dread? An easy answer for most of us. But that neck..... That just must have a Cadillac feel? Power to the People, Right On. |

YMMV Rick Martin will probably do what they did with the JM 00-45SC. It morphed into the 00-42SC and is available through Custom Shop. To other posters, please be more sensitive about posting negative comments like “it’s just bling”. It’s someone else’s dream guitar. I remember when I posted the happy news I had received my gorgeous 00-42SC and there were rude remarks about it being gaudy and comments from people who had never played the model commenting there was nothing special about the the sonic properties. Thin line between free speech and being mean. Congrats OP- hope you were able to get one of the D45 JM dreads. |

I read this story from another thread. Great story and he mentions his rare collaboration with Neil Young. Definitely worth a read. |

If there was ever going to be a Neil Young sig model it'd have to be Hank, his D-28, or his electric guitar... |

Most large stores have pulled the links for the D45 John Mayer... I guess there is a market for it after all!

You aren’t alone in that opinion. I like the guy’s music, but any time I see an interview with him, I end up having to turn it off.
