Does a tight gig bag do harm?
Aloha all,
Just was wondering if having a tight fitting gig bag does any harm. The tightness is length wise so you basically have to squeeze it in. Will the extra pressure do harm to the neck? Thanks, Ho'okani

It should be okay. I have an inexpensive electric bass guitar that I've carried for years in a slightly too-short gigbag, and the only evident strain has been on the gigbag, not the instrument.

The bag will probably fail before the instrument... wood vs cloth... I travel with my LTG in a pretty tight gig bag and I actually feel a lot better about it than having it slopping around in a loose bag.

I like my gig-bags tight to eliminate the guitar sliding around inside. As long as you don't have to force it in and it zips up without trouble, it should be fine.
