I find it distressing when I can't remember a chord in a song I've played a zillion times. You'd think muscle memory would carry, but muscles are a thing of the past too.

Hopefully he'd first set the cruise control....

I don't recall that these were commonly available back then (1960s when this urban legend as circulating).

Totally understandable, OP; and, "seniors" don't have a monopoly.

That's why pilots have checklists; not that they haven't gone through the processes countless times, but forgetting one step can we worse than coffee on the floor.

My reference to cruise control was intended to be senior humor since setting cruise control (or not) probably wouldn't affect the outcome if one leaves the driver's seat to go to the back of the vehicle while driving down the freeway...

Yes, I can see that. I realized I had not provided a time frame for that urban legend, so I corrected it. However, you are correct and qualifies as senior humor.

I used to play Toms hit "Merrimack County" all the time , but now I can't remember the chords or half the words .
In fact I may be so senior that there are now more songs I have forgotten than I currently play

Isn't "self-relocating" a new option on self driving cars?

I get most of my exercise these days going downstairs, forgetting why I went down, heading back upstairs, getting to the top of the stairs, remembering why I went down in the first place, and going back downstairs to do whatever I set out to do when I had first headed down.

It works equally well when I start off downstairs.

I'm afraid that, when this progresses further, I'll be in constant motion going upstairs and downstairs all day long without ever doing what I started out to do... but I'll be in great shape physically.

I'm trying to understand why I find comfort in losing my mind just because so many of you are too? I used to have a plaque that read "Of all the Things I've Lost, I Miss My Mind the Most." I wish I could remember where I put it.
