I actually don't care for the "quack" of 2 and 4. I find 1 and 5 the most appealing. I think I heard positions 2 and 4 drenched with chorus in too many 80's recordings, though I do love those positions in the hands of buddy guy and Eric Clapton. But those guys could make anything sound great.

Best blues strat
I've been looking at hollow body guitars, like the Epi Casino and Dot, as I'm trying to learn blues. A friend suggested I try an Amer Strat so last night while at GC getting strings I picked up a beautiful, Classic Amer in natural finish and I couldn't believe how easy it was to play, the neck was just unbelievable and using a small Fender Super X2 amp(like I have at home) the little blues that I know so far was smooth, deep, and sweet. I never thought of this guitar like that, now I'm really fired up for one, any suggestions on which one is the better one for the blues, maybe a HSS or just the Standard American, or a model with the Texas style pick ups?
Thanks

Yes he was, especially when you consider Leo also created those timeless amps.

IMO one of the things that makes the Strat so versatile is that it is much easier to get a Strat to resemble other guitars (Les Paul...) than it is to get a Les Paul to resemble what a Strat does.

My Fender Deluxe Power Strat is just great! I love the Piezo. Is it an acoustic guitar? Nope. But it does have an acoustic flavor, and for a song or two with the band, it is more than good enough. I bought it as NOS, put Zexcoil pickups in it and a switch to let me get the bridge/neck Tele combo. That guitar pretty much plays anything and the neck is an absolute joy.

I have 5 Strats and one Tele. The necks are similar, but boy do they feel and sound different. The Strat body is also a whole lot easier on my ribcage

You betcha. You would have to pry my Super Reverb from my cold, dead hands to get it.

I usually slide right on over to a Gibson for that. I envy you and your hills of Tennessee. That's where I hail from.

I also prefer the 1 3 5 settings..... With alder and maple you have brightness and cut, very bluesy and acoustic or jazzy...
Having said all that and not being a tele player, the tele is possibly even a simpler and better guitar at the end of the day. Maybe.

The Strat with the S-1 switch has ten different combinations of pickups. The main problem I have with it is the awkward design that causes you to bump into everything. The Tele ,while having less options at your fingertips, is just a more comfortable guitar.
