It works for me.
At a recent house concert I performed a piece that, instrumentally, is close to finished, but editing & structure loom large. Much will be determined by the lyrical content & melody.
I've learned to embrace my neurological issues, and the odd tricks I use to help navigate the pathway through a new composition, and one of the best things is playing it, cold, in front of an audience. Having it recorded is even better still because it reinforces the parts I like and, like a poke with a stick, reminds of the sections that DON"T work. So here's a new one with the introduction, etc. By the way: I DO know where the term Vestapol came from.... Enjoy! Howard Emerson Last edited by Howard Emerson; 01-11-2018 at 08:22 AM. |

Very cool Howard! Can't wait to hear the finished product. I'm continually amazed at how well you Flammang handles alternate tunings. Is it long scale? Nice recovery at 4:23 BTW

No, my Flammang is a standard 24.9" scale, strung with D'Addario EJ-16's. I think when I did this show it was a stock set with the .012 & .016 plain strings. I sometimes substitute with .013 & .017 when I feel like a thicker high end. Recovery, huh? That's very kind of you. I'd call it 'drawing a total blank', but seriously this is part of how I 'treat' myself. I can do it in front of a bunch of strangers in a club, but in this sort of situation it's much less scary because I know many of the attendees, and they paid good money to see me work without a net.....:-) It's like a seafood restaurant: There Will Be Clams. Sponsored by ProTools:-) Best, Howard |

Nice job H.E.
I was thinking that if you took a single frame from that video, one when you are looking down at the guitar so the top of your hat is prominent, and process it to a black and white "pencil" photo as I've seen some apps do, it would make a cool looking t-shirt silk screen or coffee mug.

It does work, Howard! Really great groove and very nice sounds from your guitar and your acoustic amp!
I like your hat and I can also see the image Barry has suggested! Very cool! - Glenn

Thanks for the kind words! It sounds even better when I take it to the swamp with a touch o'tremolo pedal. Serve the song. HE |

It works for me, too, Howard! I kept waiting for a second guitar slide part

I'm thinking more like this, but with less of the background some how. I'm not too artsy, lol.
I think it would look cool. Howard, put me down for a coffee mug if you do this,

Loved that Howard. Personally I would prefer it if you kept the full groove going throughout... However, as you say you are looking to add words eventually that may change the dynamics (ie the words may lead you into a different passage), so maybe you are working on that. Anyway, thanks for a lovely piece of music.
