If you can play it and it sounds OK the names don't matter.

Wow, that's fantastic! Thanks for posting, El Duque, and to those who have added so many helpful tips. I'd like to learn that too. Beautiful piece...

I've not got Transcribe, I'm just using my ears and the chord sequence. He may be playing more notes than this but I think this is the backbone of it. The next chord is an E9 and then he's doing a descending run where the root note goes from the 6th string to the fifth ending on a B9. I'm cooking my tea right now and will look at the rest later unless someone else does it.
Here's what I get (using Transcribe! unfair advantage!), filling in those other notes:
Code:
       (F#7) (C9 B9)

It sounds ok to me at the moment. not the same (i am not LJ!) but close enough for me. I have work to do. I would like to know a bit more about the musicality that you and JPR seem to have a handle on.

I don't play out, for or with other people so I guess it doesn't matter that much but my playing is starting to seem a bit mechanical otherwise. Meaning i try as much as possible to play as heard and or written. Not too creative in that regard. If I knew a bit more about 'music' i might change it up a little.

I would always encourage anyone to try playing out. It doesn't have to be for money. There might be some sort of session or jam near where you are and, if you could explore possibilities there, you might find it rewarding. Another possibility that would extend your scope would be if you found someone to teach. Teach someone some chords and then you can play some lead over it. You would both have a blast.

It's playing a lot, and a lot of different stuff, that educates you most in a musical sense. Gigging can give you authority but just playing lots is the main thing. Good luck.

Hi El Duque -
Did you ever get this tune tabbed out? I'm looking for the two 12 bar sections after the bass solo. With LarryB's help I've got the first four 12 bar sections tabbed out pretty close. And am looking to save some time if you (or anybody) has the last two parts. This is a great tune for sure.
Thanks
Jody
