I have recenlty been playing around with DADGAD tuning, but I can't seem to find any good (yet quite simple) songs to learn. They seem to go from one extreme (too easy) to the other (insane...).

Does anyone know some good catchy tunes that I can try to learn on DADGAD or similar alternative tunings.

Pete Huttlinger has a cool DADGAD version of Sting's "Fields Of Gold" in his "The Peter Huttlinger Collection" songbook.

Not sure what degree of "simple" you're looking for, but I have a tab of Larry Pattis' arrangement of "Waltzing Matilda" in my signature

Phil Keaggy's "County Down" is in DADGAD, excellent song and not too difficult to play. The tab is in his most recent book released earlier this year.

Julie Henigan's DADGAD Tuning book/CD combo has some very nice and very accessible dadgad celtic tunes. Published by Mel Bay.

I am SO loving this thread! Walzing Matilda and Walz for Rebecca both have me pretty excited. The other arrangements posted here will probably be great too - I just haven't heard them yet.

EDIT. That arrangement of Amazing Grace is very good, I found that ine a few days ago.

Over on the Acousticplayermagazine forum a bunch of us all did recordings of Doug's Shenandoa arrangement. It was alot of fun to do.
