Default Eagles - Saturday Night mandolin/ukulele tab

I wasn't sure if I should post this here or “Other Stringed Instruments" since its kind of a mix of both. But anyways...
I want to play the mandolin intro of Saturday Night on ukulele, since I don't have a mandolin.
And I was wondering if anyone has the tabs.
I can't find them anywhere.
If all you have is the mandolin tab, I could probably figure it out on ukulele. But if you have the tab for ukulele that would be even better.
Thanks

Here is mandolin tab. What is the first string on your Uke?

Code:

The first string is a G.
Its tuned GCEA (From the ceiling to the floor in playing position)

Where is the G note that sounds like the first note of the intro? Is it the third fret of the second string or the 10th fret of the first? It looks like you might have a problem either way. If you have re-entrant tuning on the G string you can't get all the notes and if you play it high up the neck you'll be fretting over the body. In a different key it might be easier.

10th fret of the first string. I've been trying to learn it by ear for a while, and I always start there. Then I get lost right away. I may hit a few correct notes in the process of trying to get back on track, but that's it.
I'll be happy if I can just play it one string/note at a time. With out adding the fifth or whatever other notes are played at the same time. (If that makes sense) I know it won't sound as full. But at least I'll be able to play it close enough. Especially if I strum/pick it really fast like a mandolin.
But I think I might still have trouble since the tuning is so different. I don't know though. I'm still pretty new to ukulele.

Here's a direct translation of stanron's mandolin tab to uke tab (GCEA):
Code:
|10----|7--7--7-|7--7--7-|10-----|9------|7----5-|-------|9-----------
|10----|---8--7-|8--7--8-|12-----|10-----|8----5-|7------|5---------
|------|--------|--------|-------|-------|-------|7------|--------
|------|--------|--------|-------|-------|-------|-------|---------
I haven't played this (or listened to the track) to check, btw.
The last bar could be played as fret 9 on strings 3 and 1 (muting 2) if that's easier; and the bar before could be played as frets 3-2 on top 2 strings.
(With re-entrant tuning, there could be alternatives using the 4th string instead of one of the others, but IMO that wouldn't make it any easier, seeing as you'd need to mute strings in between.)

OK, try this

Code:
Ukelele

A╓─10──────────┬─7───7───7───┬─7───7───7───┬─10──────────┐
E╟─10──────────┼─────8───7───┼─8───7───8───┼─12──────────┤
C╟─────────────┼─────────────┼─────────────┼─────────────┤
G╙─────────────┴─────────────┴─────────────┴─────────────┘

. .1 + 2 + 3 + . 1 + 2 + 3 + . 1 + 2 + 3 + . 1 + 2 + 3 +

A╓─9───────────┬─7───────5───┬─2───────────┬─5───────────┐
E╟─10──────────┼─8───────7───┼─3───────────┼─2───────────┤
C╟─────────────┼─────────────┼─────────────┼─────────────┤
G╙─────────────┴─────────────┴─────────────┴─────────────┘

. .1 + 2 + 3 + . 1 + 2 + 3 + . 1 + 2 + 3 + . 1 + 2 + 3 +
On guitar this puts you in the key of D, a rising fourth below the Eagles.

Ah, cross-posting! (you might want to check that last bar...?)

Of course. I nearly didn't bother with the last bar at all. In a sense it is after the intro. He plays a D chord that is convenient on the mandolin. I put in a D chord that is equally convenient on the ukulele. Now he can choose between two options.

They both sound pretty good, from what I'm able to play. I still have trouble staying in time. I keep getting lost on the quick 7 8 7 8 7 8. But it definitely sounds good so far. Thanks.

Having listened to the track, I have an alternative suggestion. This is how it sounds to me:
Code:
 G Em Am D D7 G
|10----|10--7--7-|7-------|7------|9------|7----7-|(10)-10--10--|-------
|10----|10--8--7-|8-------|8------|10-----|8----7-|-7----7---7--|-------
|------|---------|--------|-------|-------|-------|-------------|--------
|------|---------|--------|-------|-------|-------|-------------|---------
The 1st Am bar is indistinct, and the 2nd is played louder, but I think it's the same notes.
It sits under the fingers more naturally on mandolin, of course, but is playable enough on uke.

Mix and match the above tabs till you find a sound you like!

Eg, here's a more uke-friendly one where the upper line of those harmonies has been lowered an octave:
Code:
 G Em Am D D7 G
|5-----|5--3--2-|3-------|3------|5-----|3----2-|-2--2--2--|-----------
|3-----|3--0--0-|0-------|0------|2-----|0----0-|(3)-3--3--|---------
|------|--------|--------|-------|------|-------|----------|--------
|------|--------|--------|-------|------|-------|----------|---------

The first one sounds perfect! Thanks so much.
