Default Replacement Open Gear Tuners for Martin 000-15

I have one of the previous generation (2009) all-Mahogany Martin 000-15 guitars that I absolutely love. It's now all stock except for ebony bridge pins and a Fishman soundhole pickup.

I'm thinking of upgrading from the stock Martin tuners (which work perfectly well - This thing is never much out of tune!) to some nice open-gear tuners with either butter bean knobs or pearloid knobs. What is recommended (and will fit) in the "under $100" price range? Gotoh? Grover? Golden Age?

The grover sta-tite 18:1 is a good tuner and a lot of bang for your buck. You will need the adapter bushings, stew mac carries both. Or you could keep your perfectly good tuners. I understand though, I've changed many out myself.

Thanks much...and I hear you...No replacement tuners could possibly work any better. This baby never goes out of tune. If I make the change it would be for cosmetic reasons only.

Yeah, the open gear tuners sure are nice looking and I like the weight of them. Those stock Martin tuners on your guitar (probably made by ping or gotoh, etc) look like the lighter kind which don't generally cause the neck dive issue. Although, the 000-15 is a light guitar. You could also place a wanted ad or watch ebay for some Martin branded openbacks (made by Gotoh IIRC). Some people take them off to put waverlys on.

Martin puts Grover open-gear tuners on the D-15M. I think they look great:

I think I found these available new! You mean these, right? These would be straight drop-ins I assume, or would some reaming still be required? Thanks all.

(edit: I spoke with my tech about these tonight. He's sure these are made by Gotoh, and that they are the tuners Martin uses on some of their new models [the new D-18 & OM-21]. He's also sure they'll work well on my 000-15, so I've ordered them. Thanks.)

Yeah, but here's the thing. Even if the tuners fit, the round washers on the front of the headstock will come off, leaving "raccoon eyes" on the headstock. I wanted to do this to my OMCPA4, and elected not to once the tech showed me how it would look. YMMV...

My tech just finished-up the install work on the new tuners and pickup, and sent me these pics.
Can't wait to get my hands on her.
Sweet!
