Pono BN Tenor Guitar
Attached are two videos of our nylon string Tenor Guitars. BN is the initials for Baritone Nui. Baritone because essentially this guitar is a big baritone ukulele (13 5/8" wide, so slightly wider than our O size parlor). And the word "Nui"is Hawaiian for big.
Most Tenor Guitars throughout history have been braced for steel strings. We have braced ours classical/ukulele style with fan bracing for nylon strings. Also, the fingerboard width at the nut on traditional steel string Tenor Guitars was 1 1/4" but to accomodate nylon strings we increased this to 1 3/4" or the same as our Tenor and Baritone ukuleles. As for types of strings, on our BN models we use a traditional Baritone ukulele string set, with #4 and #3 silver and aluminum wound on nylon, similar to classical guitar sets. However, a variety of string options are available, including all nylon. Video one is the BN-10D made of solid Acacia top, back, and sides. Slotted headstock, radiused fingerboard, Koa binding, Bone nut and saddle, adjustable truss rod, and gloss finish. $899 includes a custom hardshell case and free US domestic shipping. Video two is our BN-30D made of solid Rosewood back and sides, and solid Engelmann Spruce top. All other appointments the same as the BN-10D. $989 includes a custom hardshell case and free US domestic shipping. http://vimeo.com/81702431 http://vimeo.com/86971900 |
