These have apparently been wildly popular since their launch. Sweetwater is backordered until November. You can find them if you look though. I was quoted a couple hundred off that "street price".
So beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I see instruments as tools, and I don't buy them for their looks (within reason). These won't replace an acoustic guitar. These won't replace your Tele either. I think these are made to fulfill a certain niche for a certain type of gigging or creative player. Judging from their popularity Fender may have hit that target. I don't think it's fair to compare these to the Godins, Taylors, or previous Fender hybrids. While this may not be revolutionary technology, it does reflect Fender and Fishman's take on their implementation of currently available technology. There seems to be an awful lot of "judging a book by its cover" going on in this thread. If you've played one and still reach that conclusion, fair enough. And for the record and in my own humble opinion, I've played the Taylor T5 and this sounds a heck of a lot better. I really disliked the T5. I can tell you that this guitar would be an effective tool for many of the gigs I do. I checked one out, spent some time with it in a local shop. My Martin is going anywhere, nor are my two Teles, but I can say that I was fairly impressed with the utility of this guitar. I can also see why this guitar wouldn't appeal to the purist, solo finger stylist, or at-home player. I wouldn't want one for those purposes either. All I can say is, go play one and then make your conclusion. Unless you think it's ugly and that matters to you . Last edited by geewhiz; 05-14-2019 at 09:44 AM. |

Thinking about getting one of these to make playing for 3 hours or more at gigs easier on my body. I tried one at the store for a while and it does take some time to get used to the skinnier thin neck. But its really nice to be able to play the acoustic guitar slung a little lower and with no wear and tear on you shoulder. When playing an acoustic for a few hours, my ribs get sore from it pressing on my lowest rib bones. If I make the guitar lower, it's tough to get my wrist around it.
Anyone else get one of these for comfort reasons for long gigs?

But I just returned/exchange it because after 6 months, the truss rod was out of turns. Don't know if this is was just my issue, or a design flaw, so be careful.

Hmmmm. Wasn't it under warranty? You couldn't send it back to Fender for repair or a replacement?

Traded it for a Fender Strat Pro and store credit instead. I loved this guitar, but just worried I jumped into the design too quickly. Maybe will revisit it in another year or so.

Did my first 3 hour gig with the Acoustasonic the other night.......
- Soooo comfortable and easy to play. For gigging musicians, this is a huge help. It's easier to play for a long time....the lighter strings are easier on your fingers and its easier to play up and down the neck. - Acoustic sounds are good. Better than your average piezo equipped acoustic guitar. Some of the choices are similar and not too different from each other. - The narrow nut width is taking a little getting used to, but its not a bid deal. - My biggest complaint is the slightly neck heavy balance. I'm going to try a few solutions I've come across.....putting weight in the cavity to counter balance, add some weight to the bottom of the strap, different straps. -nice to have a variety of sounds at your disposal when playing for hours for a crowd. Also the body sound works great for looping a beat

Has anyone tried an overdrive pedal with the electric channel on this guitar and if so, did the pedal work well with the guitar?
Thanks. |
