Very pretty and a good lesson. This was one of those songs that stuck with me and is still one of my favorite pop songs. I thought guitarist Michael Allsup's work on this, both the acoustic rhythm, lead, and the volume control leads, was so tasty and understated. I love understated work.

Do not try this song with Elixirs. You'll be hard-pressed to get the cool string squeak which forms part of the rhythm figure! By the way, HERE is Michael Allsup's printed lesson on the song which dovetails nicely with your version.

By the way, HERE is a video containing the original song for context.

Dale,

Another great lesson. Thanks for the time you're putting into these lessons, it is greatly appreciated.

In addition to learning the tunes, I am learning a ton of different chord grips which for me is a revelation.

Thanks again,
jack

Great lesson for a great song. I haven't heard that song for a long while. Thanks for the lesson and resurrecting some memories.

Great song! I actually played it last Friday nite...

I haven't viewed this link yet, but there's a very good, in-depth chart on 3DN guitarist Michale Allsup's site - in addition to chords, tab, chord fingering charts, he discusses how he did it and why - he's very generous...

I also love the way drummer Floyd Sneed doubled the guitar's muted strum by double-sticking his snare (using both ends of the stick). Geez, where have the good drummers gone...
