Default In Praise of the Line 6 POD 1.0 and Acoustics

Just a quick post here. As a performing songwriter I have searched high and low for the 'natural' acoustic sound and the market is a minefield. A mic is not an option. It has come down to this for me since I rediscovered old technology in the Line 6 POD 1.0.

I use two acoustics on stage - a 2012 D18 and a custom reproduction of a 1929 Martin 0018 (in Open D). Both guitars are fitted with a Baggs Element which I have found to be an undersaddle pickup that works ok and responsive to manipulation.

I run the POD and a Boss Stomp Tuner (First in Line) from the effects loop of a Red Eye Twin Pre Amp. On the POD I use the Tube Amp setting and maybe a touch of Chorus/Verb.

This is the best, smoothest, most natural sound I have ever been able to get after trying so many things over the years.

Now that’s an interesting post. Thanks, Bill. I’m gonna try that exact set-up.

Great let me know how you go:
Things to remember on POD:
1. Run Channel Dial on maximum
2. Choose Tube Amp
3. Output Level on about 1/4

Things to remember on the Red Eye Twin:
1. I just run the Treble on flat
2. I run the Gain on 3/4

Let me know how you go. I spent a week fooling around with it through headphones on the POD and A/B'ing it via Tuner mute and it's pretty darn close to my acoustic sound...

This gets me thinking...I've both the Zoom A1-Four and the G1-Four
Using the A1-Four a couple of weekends ago and I was getting a lot of string noise I didn't get when not using it...I'm sure it's in the settings but I was thinking maybe I should try the G1-Four with a Twin setting or another tube amp setting...worth a try
