Default Another new one from Rainsong!

A Studio Series Parlor! All hybrid construction with or without electronics, and shipped in a gigbag.

Yep, gig bag, Studio Series tone and a new lower price, around $1500 street spells a winning combo. Looking forward to trying the first one next week.

I'd be really interested to know what different tone can be expected with this configuration.

I'll pass on any guitar that does not come with a quality properly fitted hard case. It's simply too hard to find a decent aftermarket hard case for anything other than a dread.

Gig bags seem pretty easy on the other hand.

I guarantee that if my Shorty was offered with a gig-bag instead of a hard case I would have had serious 2nd thoughts about ordering it.

When it comes to the Rainsong Parlor you are definitely in the minority. Good news is you can always get any RS Parlor with the hardshell case.

Personally I like that it comes with a gigbag instead of a hard case. A guitar of that size (and carbon fiber to boot!) I'd be more likely to use a gigbag anyway (especially if it had a nice long shoulder strap so I could carry it messenger bag style).

I kinda miss the sharks though... but eh, can't have everything.

Will this model also come in either 12 or 14 fret versions.?

I agree AZ. Gig bags are a dime-a-dozen. If the guitar comes with a fitted hardshell case you can always have a gig bag backup option for relatively cheap. The exact opposite is true if you are in the hunt for a hardshell aftermarket- both in convenience and cost. I really like that TKL that comes with the Shorty. Is yours lined with blue velvet?

Putting a Fine guitar in a Gig-bag is like putting a baby on a motorcycle strapped to a car seat. Where's the love???

Can't wait to test that studio parlor!

Take a look at the Taylor GS Mini and its gig bag. Awesome protective bag, and is light for traveling with the guitar. One of the joys of Rainsong guitars is they weight nothing and yet they are in the heaviest case possible. And a perfect bag for say a parlor is not easy to find. I am looking for one for my JM1000.

Regarding hard case vs gig bag, as I've gone to all CF guitars, I find I really prefer gig bags. The guitars are sturdy enough that they don't need the extra protection that a hard case provides. And case storage can be an issue. i fid it a lot easier to store gig bags.

I agree with the fine points made in favor of gig bags but the fact remains that it is nice when spending upwards of 1.5K or more on a guitar that a hardshell case comes with it. Not all CF guitars are travel sized and thus fit in overhead bins when flying. If presented with that situation I personally would never check my guitar with a gig bag if it were too large to fit in carry-on. However, for just around town a gig bag would make more sense. I think that CF makers should make a gig bag for every single guitar they have in their line up-- it does not sound to me like they would have any problems selling them based upon the feedback that experienced owners are giving here. They could personalize the bags too with embroidered insignia- a bit of free marketing never hurts?
