Do any non-vintage guuitars appreciate ?
Although far from doing a comprehensive review, the only non-vintage guitar I know of that truly appreciates (is worth more used than when sold new) are Wayne Henderson guitars. Not trying to hijack thread, but I would be interested in knowing any other guitars that truly appreciate (are worth more than original sales price when sold used but are not vintage.)

ownership
The only thing I can add to this discussion is that it feels much better to own (and play) one than not.

This lovely parlor is now sold (for significantly more than what Jim would've asked for back in 2006)...

This Pernambuco SJ also sold since we last discussed the topic:
http://www.guitargal.com/collections...ar-pernambucco Olsons still do exceptionally well on the used market. |

Yes I do but since Robin took it down from her site I'd rather not publicly post the info. The previous owner didn't lose much (if at all) in the sale...

I visited James Olsen in 1983.
I found him to be a very pleasant Personality and remember our meeting. He was not as busy as he is now, and had a dread, and a om type guitar,,around 800.00. Neither were to my taste,,and in the following years I played perhaps 4 or 5 used Olsens, all unremarkable, To my ear.. They sounded like very good Taylor's to my ear. This is not to knock Olsen,,maybe I'm just missing Something,,but it shows one man's cubic zirconium, is another man's true diamond.

I have my eye on an Olson right now, hopefully the deal will go through after my house closing later next month. I'm excited!

I owned an 1998 SJ for around 10 years and never really thought it was that good until the day I sold it, that was the day I discovered it sounded a whole lot better to the listener than to the player. |

It could very well just have been my playing style/ability but for whatever reason I never bonded with it. I can say that it did appreciate in value. I sold it for more that double the price I paid. No regrets, I've funded many guitar and other hobby purchases with the windfall. |
