Thanks. It's really quite stunning, isn't it? I'm really happy with the set Jack found for this project. And I also like the idea of using a wood that is local to the area where the instrument is being made.

For those who might be interested, Australian guitarist David Ross MacDonald released an album titled 'Southern Crossing' showcasing guitars made by Australian luthiers.

You can see from the track listing that he plays a Jack Spira guitar on track 8 and a Dubowski (I own #61) on track 9.

This is the tiger myrtle that's going to be used for the headstock overlay. It will be bound in ebony.

Got a few more pictures from Jack Spira...

Ebony for the bindings.

Binding edges have been routed on the front and back of the box the box.

The top binding/purfling is going to be a tiger myrtle and ebony combo. The ebony will be wider than it appears in the picture. Jack was using a piece of plastic binding just to give me an idea of what it would look like before he cut the ebony.

That back will simulate the front.

On the sides, we'll forgo the BWB lines and the ebony will but up to the tiger myrtle.

A couple more zouk pictures. I'm getting pretty ****ed excited.

Bindings getting glued up.
From the outer edge in, it's ebony, a bwb line, tiger myrtle, another bwb line. I think it's going to look rich and beautiful ...just like she'll sound.

Jack sent me another batch of build photographs. My excitement is becoming increasingly palpable.

The headstock overlay has been glued.

The headstock is being bound in ebony.

The headstock logo is going in.

Getting ready to start fitting the neck.

A good shot of the top with the bindings sanded. I think this is going to be gorgeous when a finish is applied.

A closeup of the rosette and the binding, although you have to look close to see the ebony as it's blending with the workbench.

Ebony side bindings and end graft.

The tiger myrtle back with the same binding as the top.

A closeup of the back binding.

A good shot of one side with the ebony binding. That tiger myrtle is really beautiful.

I can't wait to see this neck with the fretboard and the two inlays I've chosen.

The headstock bound and with the Spira broken S logo.
