McKnight McJam #10 - Let's talk!

I need to tell you about this year's event. There are people who are often tell me they want to attend and, but find it inconvenient timing. There are always things that come up when you least expect it and other times it seem less enjoyable to travel all the way to Ohio for an event you aren't sure will be worth the time and effort. We get that. It's the same for people everywhere. Including us. We don't take it personal and hope others don't either.

This year was our 10th annual 2 day event. Noon - 11:00 pm both days. We all realized ain't spring chickens any more.

This year it rained all day Friday. It worked well for the faithful few to have time with Tim and all the food they could eat. Amy gave a class on conquering the whole neck. Those who stayed and played were impressed by her teaching.

Then came Saturday. After sign in (signing your life away some have said) there were shop, loft, house, Lone Cone and wood room tours by Tim and Mary. Guitars were seen and heard all day long. Several newbies came to experience the thrill of instruments designed and created by this 2 man(wo) team.

AGF brothers, Rodger and Coldshot, impressed us with a half hour of Skype between Australia and Ohio. Coldshot made up a song and played to us. He received a gift Tim made special for him to play a song. He gracefully played Mary has a Little Lamb. For ten years of McJam our attendees have been blessed with Coldshot calling us or Skyping and never missing a beat. Talk about faithful AGF friends/brothers and their dedications. It was fun! Thanks to you Rodger, along with your wonderful wife, Kathy, and most assuredly Coldshot.

Besides, Tim and myself, our daughter (McKnia07), Cafeguy/Bruce and wife, Nancy, Rodger/Rodger and Coldshot/Craig have never missed a McJam. Kwak/Neil) has been faithful to keep the iron hot, too. This year we had more AGF members visit us. Cigarfan/Dennis was nominated McJam rookie of the year! Eire/Kurt, Doubleneck/Steve, Donh/Don, AmyF/Amy, and tinman/Ross came as they often do.

Door prizes were many. Red and black t-shirts speckled the grounds.

Beach Ball Bingo was a game I made up. The back yard was filled with 100 beach balls. It was a simple game. You just have to find the letter B. Tinman's wife volunteered to be his assistant and she won. She beamed like she was on Art Linkletter's old TV show Queen for a Day. Talk about competition of the finest! I saw adults tumbling to the ground trying to win the gift of the day which was a ukulele Tim made.

We had all day song circles, open mic, a light show, video time, food and fun pictures. We made new connections, sold guitars and then, again, we ate more food.

It won't be long before I plan the 2018 McJam. I was busy so most pictures were gifted to me by Adrianne and Nancy. Thanks ladies.

By the way, when you see Cigarfan with our friend, Steve ... tell me if you think they resemble each other at all.

This was a pretty good turn out for the first day filled with terrible rains. Some had come later. A few had already left. Look close! You might see our youngest attendee is 18 months old. Our oldest was 85.

This is my own private hide-away, nicknamed the Lone Cone. It comes in handy when McJam guests need to zone out to take a power nap.
