Default Anyone else digging Jeff Tweedy's new album?

I'm a longtime Uncle Tupelo and Wilco fan, so I'm predisposed to like it, but I think it's beautiful and that it would appeal to anyone looking for a classic, mellow acoustic singer-songwriter type record. His playing and singing are really nice. Everything on it has already appeared on a record by Wilco or another Tweedy project, but these stripped down versions are great. Here's a highlight:

I've had it on even heavier rotation than I would have expected.

What?! First I'd heard he had a new album out. I need to get out more. Off to download the digital version and will report back. Thanks for the heads up!

For sure- good stuffz.
On vinyl no less

This new album and the recent 'schmilco' album boil Wilco down to what I like most about the band and Tweedy himself.

Cheers

yep. great stuff! shows tweedy's skills as a songwriter. anyone know which guitars he used for this alb? i'm guessing that his old kel kroydon is in there, as well as a waterloo or two.

Seems he always has a Waterloo in his hands these days. But hard to say for the record. Would love for him to do another similar album in the future with some new and unfamiliar songs.

Thanks, AgentKooper. Is the rest of the album like this?

Yes, all songs are given a similar treatment. Guitar, vocals, and a bit of harmonica and whistling.

I agree. My only (minor) complaint with this one is that I'm very familiar with the songs. That said, the arrangements here still make them interesting.

Yes, and I would include the "Sukierae" record he made with his son in that category too.

Seth Meyers had Jeff Tweedy on as musical guest for the entire last week. You can check out the musical performances for each night at Seth Meyers YouTube channel:

Indeed

Another good album that just released if'n yer a fan- is Justin Townes Earl's 'kids in the street'.

Yeah Rudy I saw some of that- I hadn't listened to Seth much before that.
