Robert Cray Recommendations
I really like his first album "Strong Persuader" but haven't listened to much after that, and he's coming into town in July. Any other albums I should check out in advance?
Thx |

Robert Cray Recommendations
I don't have a specific recommendation, but I saw him a couple of months ago and he put on a great show. You should have a good time.

i have almost all of his albums, cds and dvds except for the newest which covers his 40 year anniversary. i love the way he writes his songs(some call it film noir) and his playing.
"too many cooks" and "bad influence" i can recommend make sure to check out his stuff on youtube also. play music!

Same history with me - I'm surprised I didn't wear out my Strong Persuader cassette! But I don't know anything beyond that #fakefan

One of my faves!
Strong persuader contains his best set of songs. Each one better than the next. My second favorite is Midnight Stroll. A bit of a tangent for him since he plays with the Memphis Horns and several songs are very horn heavy, but I really like the music. |

I don't know that many, but I love Showdown which he and Albert King did together. Should be a great show.

This thread reminds me that Robert Cray is one of the artists whose work I've been meaning to dig into more deeply.
I love "Consequences" and wish we could have covered it in one of my bands. Great song. |

Darn, it's good. There's something about a hardtail Strat.

Someone said that they thought he wrote "film noir" which I thought was dead on.
Also, BIG time in favor of hard tail strats. |
