{Very mild spoiler content}

I watched it. It was great to see those characters again, but I felt that they tried to move so many of the plot lines forward that each one only got moved forward one inch.

These guys have their work cut out trying to maintain book quality where there is no book. I could already tell that the dialogue quality was down. For example, the conversation between the Dothraki Khal and his men about how seeing a naked woman for the first time compared to other satisfying things was almost on par with what I get on my phone every day from a site called "Joke of the day."

Still, I do trust the genius of the makers to come up with at least one more dazzling season.

Agreed. I didn't like that bit either. The books wouldn't have used such pitiful humor. I hope they don't take it in a crappy direction - up to now it has been awesomely put together.

Dammit, we're all a bunch of soap addicts.

I think Game of Thrones is the best thing on TV btw.
Try as I do, once in a while, I just cannot maintain interest in any serial show.

I've made it thru the first show or sometime a season of a few things based on friends' suggestions, but every one became predictable and I lost interest.
what have I tried?
orange is the new black (barely one season)
lost (two episodes was enough)
downton abbey (three episodes was plenty)
the one with kevin spacey - forget the name but i like kevin enough to sit thru a season's worth of show.
ditto for the good wife - i like lawyer shows so that held me for almost two seasons until i quit.
breaking bad annoyed me; i can't explain why, it just did.

i'll take a book any day. In my youth I railed against my parents' tv prohibition but today I thank them for the gift of words on paper and the exercise of my imagination.

I fully agree (for those who note such) that escapism takes many forms, tv being one and books being another.

so we're not all that different, for all that we are unique individuals.

Vikings or GOT?

I thought Sunday night's first episode of the new season was ok.

I read somewhere that George RRRRRRR Martin is still involved and that he has already laid out the rest of the storyline to HBO. Hopefully, the quality of the next two seasons will be on par with the previous ones.

I agree. Just like 24 is a soap opera with Jack Bauer and nukes......and dammits.

I was very late to the party. I still don't "get" all the different houses/lands ad who is who, but there are some very good actors and characterisations, and good ol' sex 'n' violence.

I am continually impressed by Peter Drinklage!

Also fascinated by the many different scenes - I recognise Dubrovnik, and Alhambra in Grenada.

GOT.........but if it's produced by HBO, it will be excellent no matter what. Just watched an older HBO series -"Dead-Wood"- that one hooked me too!

Everyone was in the same boat initially. You'll get it soon enough.

Regarding Dinklage, he gets better and better as the series progresses. Quite impressive.

I enjoyed the season opener, and think they did a good job moving the story lines ahead.

ONLY like the adult content when I am lucky enough to change to that channel and catch it. But have seen scenes where I wish I haven't seen. To each is own.

I don't own a television or waste my time watching videos or engage in computer games. I would counter your surprised statement with one of my own that questions why people get into such stuff. Is there a deficit of an actual life to live?
