Default Custom Doerr LS #99 from Healdsburg

As previously promised, here are some shots of Doerr #99 which I purchased at Healdsburg 2013. Apologies in advance for my poor photography skills--I've gained a newfound appreciation for all the beautiful shots put up by all of our talented luthiers and forum members!

I'm really loving this guitar--plays like butter with a voice that really speaks to me and smells great every time out of the case! This guitar really fits the bill for me and is so comfortable to play. Love all the detailing and choices that Tom made on this guitar--I can highly recommend Tom Doerr to anyone seeking out a custom guitar. Great guy and a fantastic luthier.

Hopefully the pics will show here...

Here's the link to the entire album....

If I get brave enough, there may be soundclips coming in the future--thanks for looking, and thanks as well for all the friendship, knowledge, and support I've found through the AGF!

What a gorgeous guitar! Love the headstock and the cutaway. The rosette is also nicely matched. Beautiful!

Would love to see more pictures, full specs -- and of course sound clips...

Congrats!

That is beautiful! Congrats. Tom builds such elegant guitars.

Does it have a flying brace on the back? Very cool.

Kindly,
Danny

Thanks, Mau. I'll get the specs together and post them, and if I can dig up my Zoom, I'll post some, (big gulp), sound clips. :-) In the meantime, here are a few more pics...

Thanks again for looking!

#102--you must be getting really close! Congrats, I'm sure you must be getting super excited now. Tom refers to this headstock as "Kostal-inspired"--though he's really added his own spin to it. I really like the end graft detail he used on this one as well...

Yeah, Mike, but we're not all as brave as you! Seriously though, I'm going to tough it out and try to post some clips soon--and, as you say, I'm hoping I don't cost Tom a few sales...

Indeed it does have the "flying brace" on the back! Never thought of it that way, but that's a good descriptor. It's definitely different than any bracing I've seen, and is, way cool...

Thanks again for following!

Smile Doerr #99

Wow!!! Gorgeous guitar. What kind of spruce top is that?

I have a Baranik in African Blackwood and Colorado Blue Spruce that is definitely a keeper for me. I'm glad you found such a keeper!!!

It's guitars like this that would have tempted me too much if I went to Healdsburg this year when I couldn't really afford another new guitar.

I hope you do post some sound clips down the road. I'd love to hear them.

Congratulations on such a fine guitar. I love the burl used for the rosette and headstock.

Thanks, Coco Kid. It's Lutz spruce--my first experience with it. To me, it's really similar to sitka, but has that nice creamy white look to it. I'm digging it so far. Your Baranik is a definite keeper, and I enjoyed watching your build thread. Love that Blue Spruce top--would love to hear it--are (or have) you posted any clips yet?

That was my experience at Healdsburg. Too many temptations, but definitely no regrets at bringing this keeper home!

I plan on posting some sound clips one of these days...
