Default What is the "best" number 3 guitar pedal?

My experience suggests what many have already said:

Pedal 3: delay
Pedal 4: chorus
Pedal 5: compressor/booster

All of the above are useful for Eagles-style music (perhaps chorus a bit less) though the above numbering is order of priority, not necessarily order of placement in the signal chain (I put compressor after my tuner, and chorus before delay for example...)

A tuner pedal is great too - not only for tuning (well, obviously) but also for muting if changing guitars.
