I've only watched the very beginning so far, but this looks/sounds cool.

It seems like a really good player could probably accomplish the same thing by just playing a fretless guitar or oud, which I'm assuming is the sort of sound this is aiming to emulate (like I said though, I still need to watch most of the video).

Edit: Watching the video further I'm realizing that there appear to be a variety of fretted instruments that have scales including microtones, so I guess this is emulating them.

I find this microtonal guitar (and the music he is playing on it) to be really intriguing. So many instruments, so many musical traditions, so little time!
