Default New Classical Songs to Learn

Hi, I've been playing for about 3 1/2 or 4 years, and I've gotten pretty good, but I've never played classical before and I'm interested to get started, so I wanted some suggestions for some classical pieces I can learn that are good for a beginner. It's most important that I can get some free tabs for these songs on the internet somewhere. I will buy a book eventually, but I'd like to learn some songs for free first to see if I'm interested.

Thanks

Consider the anonymous Romance sometimes referred to as Jeux Interdits. You can hear a sample of Christopher Parkening's interpretation on iTunes.

I've been recommending that song rather often on the Forum but it is a very pretty tune and technically easy.

My instructor handed me Tarrega's "LaGrima" and "Andelita"....very nice short melodies. Great pair to start with and they go well together on your set list.

Another possibility is Muriel Anderson's arrangement of Bach's beautiful "Arioso".

I would highly recommend Andrew York's 8 Discernment's. Great pieces!

Kindly,

I wonder if you are referring to Adelita and Lágrima (sometimes written in plural form, Lágrimas). iTunes has Narcisco Yepes' version as Lagrimas: Andante. It has Göran Söllscher's version as Lágrimas.

Herb...you are so correct...I hang my head in classical guitar shame. As my mom used to look at me and say when I was little, "...too many games without a helmet".

Adelita and Lagrimas!
