Anyone bought from Dream Guitars in N.C.?
Trying to get a sense of their willingness to haggle on used guitar prices. Anyone one with experiences they can share? Will they work with you (assuming it's not a consignment) or stick to their guns? Thanks in advance.

I have - excellent experiences and first class operation
Most all their guitars are consignment, some new sales - with the consignments, make an offer, they'll get with the owners and get back with you. Never really looked at their new guitars. |

Throw them an offer and see what they say. Sales are usually down after Christmas and Most free money now is being spent on fishing.

Dream
I've consigned there in the past and if there was an offer, they let me know and it was up to me how to respond. If they ever bargained with their share I never knew about it. They are increasingly fussy about what they represent. A class operation.

I was able to negotiate with them on a consignment piece (a pre-war Martin) and we were able to work out a deal. I was very happy with the results.
On another occasion I bought a store owned piece and it wasn't as easy to negotiate. In my experience and a few others I have heard they may play up some of their less stellar guitars. But it's understandable, they are a business, they have clients to represent and not everyone is after the same thing. I think they are at their best if you go there in person and try guitars out. The location is beautiful too up in the mountains. Overall I would give them an A rating. Last edited by mmasters; 01-19-2018 at 08:59 PM. |

Last summer I visited the store a couple times while I was in the area visiting my son. I did call beforehand to schedule an appointment the first time.
I was interested in a guitar they'd posted and had been impressed with the video. Paul sat me down with about six guitars including the one I specifically was interested in and left me alone to give 'em a whirl. Much appreciated. He checked in a few times and swapped out the ones I didn't care for and suggested a few others. Very considerate. The next day I went back and bought the one I'd liked from the beginning, a new Peggy White OM. Price was pretty much as advertised which I was OK with. All in all, a great experience. DG has an amazing inventory and over the three visits I had that week I was giver the opportunity to play many fine guitars. Thanks to Paul and his fine staff. I'll be back! |

I bought my Bamburg baritone through Dream Guitars. They're a class act. Talk to them.

I have bought from Dream Guitars, twice actually, and both times were very good experiences. I was not haggling with them on price, however. I think if your offer is reasonable and you are serious about buying, that there is a good chance that they will work with you. But I have no personal experience with this.

I've bought two guitars from them, and sold another on consignment. It was a really good experience, in both directions. I don't recall haggling with Paul, but he did drop the price of the second guitar, just because it was the second guitar I bought inside a month. I didn't ask for a break - he just very kindly repaid my business. Highly recommended.

They're great to deal with.
I've bought several guitars from them. All were used (and on consignment). I was able to negotiate a somewhat lower price with the seller (through DreamGuitars). Their shipping is outstanding. Everybody should ship guitars this way. One of the guitars I bought needed a truss rod adjustment and it had an odd-ball sized allen key, and neither the tech nor I could figure it out. I even talked to the builder who couldn't remember what size it was. Finally worked with Dream Guitars to send it to the builder, who then adjusted the truss rod and even send me the right tool to adjust it with. |

Dream Guitars
I'd agree with what everyone's saying here... Dream Guitars, and by extension, Paul, is a class act. I've bought 2 guitars (both used) and sold 1 through them. Very professional, no issues.
One of the guitars (a Simpson "Dream Guitar") had arrived with a broken headstock. I immediately called Paul and he took care of it in a very equitable manner. I was really pleased with the outcome. I'm sure Paul would consider a reasonable offer, with reasonable being the key factor
