Default Work shoes

I went from a desk job to a labor intensive job that requires me to be on my feet all day. I've been dealing with a lot of foot pain recently and am looking for suggestions for a good pair of sturdy lightweight work shoes that last.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Rockport or Clarks make the most comfortable shoes on the planet (imo). Each has a wide range of styles so you can buy for home, work, or the office and be suitably shod.

good l uck!

Default DeWalt

Hi, I have a mashed up left foot so I have lots of foot problems, and as I grow my own fruit and veg, but for the last few years my boot of choice have been DeWalt "Bolster" Work boots - steel toecaps, fantastic sole and incredibly comfortable to wear.
Sometimes I wear a clean pair to gigs when there is set up stuff to do.

I think DeWalt is an American company?

A good pair of steel tip elastic-sided boots. Here in Oz I like Redbacks because they have a high arch, but the soles don't last as well as some other makes, such as Blundstone. The steel tips are for safety, but they also leave breathing room around your toes, the elastic sides are for convenience. I sometimes also use athletic-style insoles in them for added comfort.

Need to know the requirements of the job. I used to have to buy boots with a 1/2" box heel for climbing. Not allowed to work without them. Been in other environments where steel toes and shanks are required.

Jalas is a Finnish brand that I really like. Clogs - either rubber or wood sole is great for when you stand a lot

If you meant shoes and not boots, SAS shoes are of the highest quality. https://sasshoes.com/?SID=etpml26tikckhcs8lnv7a713s1

I've had two pair of the Side Gore in cordovan lace up. You have to buy them from a dealer and they are not cheap, but you will have them for years. They are surprisingly light weight, but the leather is thick.

USA made in San Antonio, Texas.

When I worked in the printing industry I wore SAS shoes exclusively. Good arch support, comfortable, and they last forever.

Boots, I like Redwing but it has been 30 years since I needed work boots so I am not sure they are still as good now.

The last pair of Redwings I bought were made in China and fell apart inside a year.

They DO still make American ones, but beware..........

If you’re just on your feet without much shifting, use running shoes.

Tennis shoes are good if you’re twisting and bending.

I'm moving all the time. I work in a conference center and do a lot of pulling/pushing, lifting, walking, carrying, setting up and tearing down equipment. I prefer a tennis shoe as it is lighter weight than a boot. I wore a pair of these shoes for a year.

They were okay but didn't last long. I then bought a pair of Nike's and have had a lot more of foot pain since the switch. Ibuprophen and ice have helped alleviate some of the pain, but I am ready to invest in a pair of quality shoes that will last a couple years.

I appreciate your replies everyone.

I had to see a foot specialist a few years ago about severe pain on the inside of my left little toe. The Doc suggested I get shoes that have a wider toe box for more comfort. He recommended Merrell or New Balance. I am in my shop on cement most of the day and evening so I chose the Merrell since they had many styles of boots ranging from light hikers all the way to full blown heavy snow boots. I have loved every pair I've had and I've had a bunch. I always switch out the stock insole with an athletic style from Sof Sole and have not had any foot or toe pain since.

I would think New Balance runner shoes for long distance. Padding and an arch. When I worked in construction I had two pairs of work boots to alternate every other day. Better for the shoes, better for your feet.
