If I want to try elixir nano 12-54s, do folks think I'll need to adjust the setup? Thanks!

Not really I wouldn't think.

I love the Martin Lifespans that come on them myself. I do have MF sending me an eval set of strings that are in pre-release that I'm gonna try when they get here but if it were not for the fact that they were being shipped to me free I wouldn't consider anything but the Lifespans as I really enjoy them.

I've got the Elixir Nanos on my 12 string and love them but despite their performance on the 12 I still wouldn't go there with the Martin.

Kip, thanks. I was really impressed with the Nanos on my Taylor 114e, so I might toss a set onto the D-18. Not such a fan of lifespans myself.

And many many thanks to all for the kind wishes and nice words. Healing slowly but surely. And thanks for the compliments on the D-18. I got lucky for sure.

I use the mediums and didn't need an adjustment but shortly there after I had a little better set up done than Martin did, polished the neck and headstock and later I will add the Waverly 4060 tuners. I think mine came with lights, but the neck is a lot better than what is on cheaper guitars, so I don't think an adjustment is needed. If so no big deal. Congrats again, are you going to polish the neck and headstock?

Really nice, beautiful guitar. You'll enjoy that baby for years to come!

Way down in southern Florida lies Miami
The place where all the northern people go.
To spend their vacations in the sunshine,
And meet the truest friends they'll ever know.

I went ahead and installed the Elixir Nano 12 gauge. Sound great and no setup issues. I ordered some bluegrass gauge strings from Strings and Beyond which go from 12 to 56. Might be a perfect match for the dread.

Be sure to let us know in a week or two of playing. I really didn't care too much for my nanos on the 12 till they came around... when they did... Hallelujah!
