"I went down to the pawn shop on sunset boulevard,
And I gave the man my Gibson and my watch.
He said "You were just another cowboy who was trying
Way too hard, and in a month or two then none of this
Will matter very much.""

The King of Oklahoma - Michael Franks

"Ran out of gas down the road a piece
Now the battery's dead,
And the cables won't reach"

Out on the road today
Saw a Dead Head sticker on a Cadillac.
A little voice inside my head said:
"Don't look back, you can never look back."

Default Got a bunch...but one is from a hometown guy..

I could write volumes on this subject...but one of my favorite is from writer Russell Smith of the Amazing Rhythm Aces....he's from my hometown of Lafayette, Tn....from the hit Third Rate Romance

"I've never really done this kind of thing before...have you?"

And another is from Good Ole Boys Like Me
"Those Williams boys they still mean a lot to me...Hank & Tennessee"

This song has a bunch of great lines....
"It's not clinging to the rocks and ivy
Planted on their columns now that binds me"

Default one of mine...

Here's one of mine...always wanted to get this line in a song and finally did it..hey, I'm from a small town...

"Drive by that liquor store just outside of town
circle the block and pull in when there's no one around
Hose' or Jim Bean hell either one will work
You beg God that you don't see a single soul from church"

from the soon to be big smash hit..."What Ever Gets You Thru The Day"

Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world,
The heart has it's beaches, it's homeland and thoughts of it's own.
Wake now, discover that you are the song that the mornin' brings,
But the heart has it's seasons, it's evenin's and songs of it's own.

-Eyes of the World (R. Hunter and J. Garcia)

The wind has wept and the sky is slurred
But we slept through the sunrise, too
I'm dreaming still of who you were
Though, I may be miles away from her
