Back in the mid 70's bought a used Telecaster from a local music/repair shop.
The guy said it was a 1969. Eventually, had to replace the pickups and rewire. Still sounds great. But, weighs a ton. |

Wow, I may have the oldest factory electric guitar claim to date on this thread (not counting lap steels)! 1946 Epiphone Zephyr, single pickup archtop. Serial number 25080, 25 is the model, and 080 is the sequence number after Epiphone started building this model again after WWII. I also have a 1962 Gibson Melody Maker, and a 1962 Silvertone 1445 three pickup thin body archtop. My other ones aren't that old, mostly from the 1990's.

Cool. I created a thread about Martin electric guitars a couple or few years back. Most people aren't aware of these. Is it circa 1980?

Still have it. Still plays great. She and I have been through a lot together. |

Lovely. Count me among the handful of people on the planet who really like the look of these.

A 1974 SG Standard with a hand-painted pickguard inspired by the writings of Carlos Castaneda. The original owner found Jesus in 1978 and sold the guitar to me as he felt that electric music wasn't in harmony with his newfound faith.
A year later he decided maybe electric guitar was OK with his faith and asked if I would sell it back. No...

I need to get a picture soon. It's unusual for sure.
No, I really don't play it much. As nice as it is, it doesn't hold a candle to my Carvin Holdsworth model which (for me) blows away every electric guitar I've ever played. Although the more I talk about the SG, the more I want to throw some new strings on and have fun.

Bought it in late 84 or early 85 from an authorized Martin dealer who sold out of his basement. No telling how long he had it... probably a year or two. S/n is 3055.
