Default Ibanez AG75 - impressions

Impulse buy. A local pawn shop had a 25% off sale on all guitars (and they've got a lot of guitars). On the wall was an Ibanez AG75 hollow body archtop electric. Mint. No case.

I'm not a huge fan of archtops because I never got used to the feel of the body size, but the price was right so took her home.

It is actually a nice sounding and playing guitar. Nice action, and the pickups offer a nice palette of tone options.

My sole gripe is the design of the tailpiece. It - imo - is oversized, especially on the corners on the front end. I find that my forearm keeps bumping into it. If the corner was rounded off instead of it having the square edge it would be a big improvement.

That said, I bought this to flip. But I cancelled my ad on craigslist and decided to just keep it around. I didn't have a jazz box anyway.

It still has the strings on it from the pawn shop. I am looking to try flat round 12s on it.

There OK once you go through them.

The plastic neck inlays are prone to coming unglued. Little superglue takes care of that.

The metal bridge is prone to buzzing, little nail polish fixes that.

Check your fret heights, they are terrible from the factory, mine needed leveling.

Love mine, always wanted one and for a cheap f hole, I'm pretty happy with it after a tune up.

I have one. It did not come with any problems.

I replaced the neck pickup.
I really like the feel of the neck and the body size.
I may put some higher gear ratio tuners on it in the future.

I've had one for about a month. It's my first electric and I didn't want to spend much but I wanted something that would be good for jazz. I know next to nothing about electrics but I think it sounds pretty good and I'm having a blast with it. Ibanez puts really light strings on them. I'm going to try d'addario flatwounds.
