weird angle and lighting but I wanted to get the "3-D'ness" of the water rushing over the rocks. I put "rocks" behind the water so its like an inlay in an inlay. I actually wanted to sand through the 'Harvey Leach "smoke and mirrors" technique' of the shell veneer to expose more of the "rock" underneath the "water veneer". This gives the impression that the water isn't rushing over the rock as much in that place.

Its starting to come to life a little. Tomorrow I'll engrave it and I think I'll be done.

I'll have more pics up tomorrow.

Kevin.

Kevin, I have to apologize, but I'm out of superlatives. You do [somebody insert superlative here please] work, and it is completely [another superlative, please]. Maybe by your next post I will have recovered.

Hi mikealpine - Thanks buddy. Appreciate the comment. This one is turning out nicely. I haven't even engraved it yet. I'll be doing that tomorrow and I'll put some pictures of the finished product up.

Hope you have a great evening.

Kevin.

Here are a couple pics of the flowers, with the pollen detail...the cobwebs on the pedals (sp??), and the detail on the parrot.

Hope you like it.

The cobwebs are an after thought not planned. The ideas just spring up once the inlay gets going. And most of it is a challenge on "how am I going to do this?", and "what materials will make this work?".

Anyway, its getting finished today. I'll have some more pics up tomorrow, then I'll move on.

Have a great day.

Kevin.

Do you think frets 13-15 will see more use than on a typical acoustic?

Literally made me laugh out loud! And I have all sorts of inappropriate follow-up comments that I know, by forum rules, I simply cannot post. Very, very funny!

I've always wanted to hear an acoustic version of Zappa's "Titties and Beer".

Thanks Nemoman. I appreciate that.

I know there are women who participate in this forum and play guitar, it is not my intention to disrespect you in any way by making this inlay. Please keep the comments respectful. Thanks.

I will have other pictures up today of the rest of it.

Hope you all have a nice weekend.

Kevin.

Default the final pics

These are the final pics I took of the inlay. hope you like it.

I added a caterpillar on the green leaves below the parrot....looked like in needed to be there.

If anyone is ever interested in an inlay like this on one of my guitars, please let me know. Thanks for looking and commenting. I do appreciate it all.

Kevin.

And I cut this extra inlay, not as part of this Garden inlay, but for another customer who has bought some of my heavily inlaid guitars. I'm just going to give this to him, I meant to do it a long time ago, but I had some other things to attend to. This was his baby daughter in a basket posed in this pic.

He is a good and faithful repeat customer. The kind we all love.

Hope you all have a great day. Peace.

Kevin.

Love the way it turned out Kevin! Beautifully done. I think the reflection work is excellent. You are a master craftsman.
