John Kinnaird Build
Long time, no post. I'm about to start a 12 fret slope shoulder D with Brazilian Rosewood and Adirondack top . If you guys are interested, I'll post the build process with photos as I get them from John. If no interest, I won't waste the forum's time.
This will be my second guitar from John. Tripper

YES! As one who has been the grateful custodian of two of John's creations (your very cool braz/cedar OO and a lovely mad/adi OM) in the past, and enjoys Gene's old ziri/euro OO cutaway almost every day, it would be great to see this build. He's doing some marvelous work!

But then again...I have not yet seen one from you, and if reincarnation is real, then I should have plenty of lifetimes left to fill up with pics of sweet, custom guitars, so I have to agree with Mikealpine: POST IT POST IT POST IT POST IT POST IT POST IT POST IT POST IT POST IT POST IT POST IT POST IT POST IT POST IT POST IT POST IT POST IT POST IT !!!!! |

Hey, Tripper, welcome back!
I can't wait to see and hear about the build. I just found a Steve Kinnaird 7 string at a shop down the street! Then I see this. Congratulations.

Ten years ago John built me a Cuban Mahogany and Red Cedar L-00 cutaway with Green Paua on the top. It had a very wide neck, almost classical across the fingerboard. I had to use D'Addario custom light on it and it sang.
http://www.kinnairdguitars.com/Galle...L00Main29.html I sold it to pay for house repairs. It is a guitar I wish I could buy back.

It sounds like there's plenty of interest so I'll post the process - that is, if John doesn't mind. I better check with him first.
John has been sending some pics this morning of possible wood sets. I'll get them up on the forum shortly. Here's what I know so far regarding build specs: Slope Shoulder D 12 fret Slotted headstock Brazilian Rosewood back and sides Adirondack top 5 piece neck No adjustable truss rod Ebony fingerboard Still on the fence about having a sound port or not. I've had two guitars with ports and I was a little disappointed with them. Haven't decided on whether I want electronics or not. And, I still have to make decisions on neck profile, string spacing and cosmetics like binding, rosette, etc. It's going to fun and a little nerve wracking, too.

Hi Steve, I'll be counting on you to oversee John's work and critiquing his progress.

John said it was fine with him if I post his pics of the build.
Starts with wood selection. Here are some possibilities: Set 1 Set 2
