Talking 2010 Custom Builds - Who has what in the queue for 2010?

O.K. .. so this may belong in the Custom Shop section (or maybe not - mods feel free to move if appropriate), but I was just thinking about the builds that I am scheduling to start next year and I began wondering who else has builds starting next year.

Soooooo.......I thought, why not start a thread on what the AGF members are planning for in 2010. If you have any builds set up for next year, let us know what they are.

Maybe we can all get a preview of what's coming in 2010, and hopefully these builds will be posted (complete with pictures of course) in the Custom Shop section for everyone to salivate over.

So to start it off, here's what I'm working on (if things come together the way I hope)...

Stehr Auditorium - African Blackwood/Sinker Redwood
Gwaltney 000 - African Blackwood/Sinker Redwood
Kevin Clark A-Wedge - Koa/Sinker Redwood
John Fitzgerald 00-12 - Monkeypod/Sinker Redwood
Edwinson Consort or Falcon
- Still working on the details...

If these builds come through, I will be selling some of my existing guitars (its getting tougher to choose the ones that I want to sell), but the Cornerstone and the Stehr Mac Eb 00-12 is definitely on the Keeper List.

So, now who's next?

Nice list of incoming, Hen!

I don't have any scheduled to start in 2010, but two to complete -- the macassar ebony / redwood baritone that Rob Bustos is working on (Paragon) and the Baranik Meridian Concert 'tree' mahogany / sinker cedar.

I have both up as builds but haven't had any updates lately from Rob; Mike is putting periodic pictures out and I'll update both build threads as well as reviews when they arrive.

Arrival for the Paragon could be this or next month; the Baranik is scheduled for February.

I'll watch this thread with interest!

Thanks,

Phil

My Olson #1301 should be wrapping up in the spring. Here is the SJ build: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=168336

My Olson Brazilian dread to match the SJ is in the wood selection phase. I will have the same Brazilian rosewood neck, same inlays (and yes it will be a florentine cutaway), same killer inlays.

My Omega Brazilian dread is underway...Kevin Gallagher has already obtained the Brazilian for my Omega Brazialian dread, which will be called the Maple Leaf. It will be inlaid with maple leaves on the headstock, fret markers, bridge flaps, etc. Though the overlay is for a jumbo, you get the idea on the wood for the dread. Here is that build and a picture of the Brazilian for the back. http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=166438

I was going to do an Applegate Jumbo but I decided to put that off for now...I got a really nice Ryan Cathedral Brazilian that will hold me well on that.

Default Bryan Galloup's guitars are a work of art

Bryan Galloup of Galloup guitars is in Big Rapids Michigan. He has an incredible line up of custom guitars of which he has a two year wait.
He also has his school of lutherie known all over the world. I'm betting that as more and more big names buy his guitars, he'll become more widely known.

I have a Mayes MJ-55 which is his mid size jumbo with 16" lower bought. It is his version of a Gibson J-185. I'm ordering mine with Italian Spruce on the top and Madagascar Rosewood or African Blackwood for the back and sides.

I'm hoping for a little more of a fingerstyle guitar this time setup with 13's and no pickguard. The guitar should be done by like May or June in 2010 I believe.

Several Hortons, mine included, should be coming down the line.

I'm going with a small jumbo, which has a 15.5 lower bout...Adirondack over curly mahogany with flamed maple binding all around and Madagascar rosewood fretboard, bridge, and headplate, all finished off with a sprinkling of herringbone purfling. It should be off-the-charts.

Welcome Captain KWICK. We all hope for the luthiers we're ordering guitars what you hope for Galloup. Not sure though if your post fits in this thread, or do you have a Galloup lined up for 2010?

This year I think I'm going to have Santa Cruz make me a custom D, with Coco back and sides, an over-the-top highly figured bearclaw top, all hide glue... A hybrid red spruce bracing that is double tappered and scooped on bass side only. 1 3/4 nut, 2 and 1/4 for the right hand. No fretboard inlays except the SCGC logo at 16th fret. A blank, bound headstock with coco overlay. Extra side postion markers, a volute that is moved up a bit to make room for an Elliot capo....

Very cool! I saw Ken Powell at the Wirral Folk on the Coast Festival earlier this year, he was demo-ing his guitars and talking about luthiery, and he was also one of the artists performing on the main stage. Really interesting chap, and his guitars have a lovely tone. I look forward to seeing your progress reports
