Default My marshall amp to my HD TV???

This topic doesnt do anything with guitars, but I hope someone can help me with this....

My girlfriend bought me a HD TV a few weeks ago, and I am thinking to use my marshall mini ATV amp to increase the volume and sound quality...
I don't know anyone who tried it before, so I don't know is it a good idea...
Anyone tried it before, and what do I need to connect them both?

It would probably be better to run a patch cable from the TV's "audio line out" or "audio out" or "aux audio out" or whatever it's called to the auxilliary input of a stereo system. I have an RCA bookshelf unit and that's what I use for sound when I watch DVDs. If you have a decent home stereo, you can run the TV's audio output to an input channel of the stereo.

As for using the guitar amp, yes, it would probably work. No, it's not the right tool for the job. Hope this helps.

Guitar amps are not typically stereo. Television left mono behind decades ago.

Even more important - most guitar amps are designed to distort. Not ideal for TV. I admit I don't know that model (and couldn't find it in a Google search). If it's an acoustic amp it will be OK.

But you can buy a decent stereo receiver pretty cheaply these days.
