Good job! The guitar is beautiful. I have a Kay Mercury that seems very close to your Silvertone although the Kay has an adjustable neck. I've only been able to nail down the vintage to between '62 - '65.

You are ambitious (I mean that as a compliment). Looks very, very good. Sounds nice too! Congrats.

The guitar looks absolutely beautiful. Congrats. Bet you are enjoying it. What happened to the video? Would love to see and hear the guitar in action. I have one in somewhat similar condition to yours pre restoration. It has no cracks at all and doesn't appear to have ever had any work done on it. Hadn't considered restoring it but your guitar, the pics and the thread have me thinking. Would love to see the YouTube if you don't mind.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

Thank you for the kind words everyone, I took the video down. The guitar is off for a refret and I should get it back tomorrow and I will make another sound clip. I did not do the guitar justice in the first clip as I did not know how delicate the tone on archtops can be depending on your picking and attack. It's quickly becoming one of my favorite guitars.

I just got the guitar back, the luthier re-fretted/leveled and now it plays great. Though he did crack the finish and chip some paint on the underside of the neck, I wished I checked it out more thoroughly before leaving his shop. Anyhow, sound clip below =)

WOW! Thats is a beautiful guitar, do you mind if I ask how much the restoration cost? And was it in your town or did you ship it to someone? I have an old Harmony that needs loads of work to bring back to life.

Looking at the transformation inspired me to use several words, out loud, that I'm not allowed to type in this forum. Absolutely beautiful looking transformation.

I'm not sure how much the restoration cost since I bought it from the man that did the restoration. He lives here in town about a 15 minute drive for me. He does beautiful work, but he only does it as a hobby.

I'd say it looks just a wee bit better, eh?
