Default Guitar Strings

A while back I posted a thread asking for guitar string suggestions. As you know they are like the Ford & Chevy saga and everyone has their favorite and I appreciate all your suggestions. For some reason this post got my attention the most:

John Pearse Pure Nickel. Sound broken-in in an hour instead of a day or two and hold their sound quality without dulling much for a couple months of intense playing.
I've tried every string known to man more than once in 39 years of playing. The JP Pure Nickel are the only thing I've played for about 10 years.
I learned about the benefits of nickel strings from the great luthier Frank Ford.

I bought two sets, a light and a medium, and I'm very conscious about how my strings sound. I also play 1-2 hours every day. Both these sets have been on my guitars since the third week of August and sound like you just put them on. To me they feel like there might be a hair more string tension but they sound and feel great. They also don't seem to be prone to oxidation some other strings are. Just wanted to pass it along if anyone wanted to give them a try. For $6.50 a set I'm sold.

Don't speak too soon - I've been sold on strings on the first set a number of times, not so much by the time the third set was in use......

If I have 5 guitars out, they may be wearing 4 different strings. Since I've never found one string that works, for me, on every guitar - I'm glad you've found one type that works for on at least one guitar.

Thanks for posting Revy, would you say they are bright sounding or mellow?

+1. I know this is true for me too. Kind of like finding the "right" girl (many years ago)...there can be lots of contenders, but finding the one that has enduring appeal is a bit trickier and more elusive. Good thing the journey can be so much fun.
